The problem
People have difficulty finding events and often learn about them after they have passed. Finding movie showtimes, ordering tickets and making reservations can be a challenge. They need an app that surfaces events in advance, gives clear cinema information and showtimes, and makes booking simple, with personalised suggestions.
Who it is for
Event and movie-goers of all ages: concert lovers, theatre aficionados and people looking for unique experiences. Two user types shaped the flows: registered attendees who browse, book and manage events, and regular moviegoers.
What already exists
A feature-by-feature comparison with the apps people already use for events and for cinema showtimes showed where each one stopped short, from browsing by category to combining events and movies in one place.
Structure
The information architecture brings events, movies, tickets and the account under one home, so discovery and booking share the same paths.
Wireframes
Low-fidelity screens settled the core flows before any visual design: discovery, event and movie details, seat selection and the ticket itself.
Style
A dark interface lets posters and event photography carry the colour, with a blue-to-violet accent for every action.
App screens
Onboarding, sign-in, discovery and booking in the final visual design.
The website
A companion website promotes the app and walks through its features.
Key decisions
Three choices shaped the product more than any single screen.
- Events and movies, one homeDiscovery, showtimes and tickets share the same paths, so planning a night out is one flow instead of two apps.
- Find it before it's overUpcoming events surface early, with personalised picks, so people stop hearing about things after the fact.
- Booking in a few tapsSeat selection, payment and the ticket sit in one short path, with the price always in view.
The outcome
A complete design for the TicketEasy app and its website, from personas and the information architecture to every core screen, ready to hand to developers. The research also left a clear map of where today's apps stop short, which guided every later decision.
If people miss the event, the booking flow doesn't matter. Start with discovery.
